D’yan Forest’s Bold New Show at Joe’s Pub

D’yan Forest

D’yan Forest, the Guinness World Record Holder for the Oldest Working Comedian, will debut her new show “A Gefilte Fish Out of Water,” which takes on antisemitism, on her 91st birthday at Joe’s Pub on July 31st. D’yan, who Joan Rivers once called “a filthy ukulele player,” became internationally famous last year when she got sucker-punched in the face in Greenwich Village and nearly lost her right eye. Forest, who has performed with Jerry Seinfeld and Jim Gaffigan, will give her uncensored take on being a Jew in America, with stories, songs, and plenty of jokes. “Let’s laugh about it!” says Forest, who told me, “I have been through the ups and downs of antisemitism since I was five years old, so my show is about my life as a Jew. Don’t worry, it has plenty of laughs!” she chuckled. Get tickets here

Christie Brinkley and Pamela Anderson: Kindred Spirits

Pamela Anderson and Christie Brinkley have more in common than you may think at first glance. Both are glamorous pinup girls famous for looking good in a bathing suit, each has been married and divorced four times, including from famous singers, Anderson from Tommy Lee and Kid Rock and Brinkley from Billy Joel. The two sex symbols even starred in the Broadway musical “Chicago,” playing the role of Roxie Hart, a character known for her ambition and desire for fame. Pamela even went to see Christie in the hit show in 2011 before she took on the same part in 2022. Brinkley tells Social Life Magazine writer Matthew Berritt, “I admire Pamela. I think we were both misread. Different myths were built around each of us, and now we’ve found the freedom to say what was always ours. We’re not salon blondes. We’re hands-in-the-dirt women. We bloom in the garden.” Brinkley, whose new memoir “Uptown Girl” is a New York Times bestseller, also talks about her ex-husband Billy Joel, saying they met in a tiny bar in St. Barth’s. “It was like someone’s garage with the door open,” she confides of the spot that only had a few seats and an upright piano tucked into a corner. Brinkley recounts that Billy made his way over to the piano and patted the bench. Christie accepted the invitation and sat beside him. “What would you like to hear?” he asked. “The Girl from Ipanema,” she replied. The choice caught him off guard, but it worked. Instantly, there was a spark. “I had just learned it in Portuguese,” she said. “So I started to sing. At the time, I didn’t know who he was,” she revealed. Not long thereafter, a love story unfolded. But Christie makes it clear, it wasn’t a fairy tale. “At some point, the drinking became the other woman. And once you’re the bad cop, they don’t want to be with you anymore.” Brinkley goes on to talk about the painful moment she was told by a Southampton cop that her fourth husband, Peter Cook, was seeing a much younger girl. “I asked him to repeat it.” And that was the end of the marriage that left her with two wonderful children, Sailor and Jack. When asked how it felt to see “Uptown Girl” land on the best-seller list, “I had thought this book might just sit on shelves,” she confided. “I worried it would embarrass my kids. But people bought it. They loved it.” And: “I cried,” Brinkley confessed. Brinkley will celebrate her Social Life cover and host Polo Hamptons on Saturday, July 19th with the magazine’s Editor-in-Chief Devorah Rose and Publisher Justin Mitchell.
