Viennese Opera Ball Kick Off
The Viennese Opera Ball, the oldest white tie charity ball in New York, kicks off its benefit at the Austrian Cultural Forum. The charity will be celebrating 100 years of legendary Austrian artist, Gustav Klimt’s, legacy at the 63rd annual white tie debutant ball in February. The ball will take place at the recently opened Ziegfeld Ballroom after many years of taking place at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel since its inception in 1955. Legendary actress Helen Mirren starred in the movieWoman in Gold about Klimt’s most famous painting that Ronald Lauder, Estee Lauder’s son, bought for $135 million and is now displayed at the Neue Galerie on 5th Avenue. Some of Klimt’s most notable works include The Kiss, The Three Ages of Women, Death and Life and Beethoven Frieze.
Among those in attendance were Viennese Opera Ball president Silvia Frieser, artistic director, Daniel Serafin, soprano Rebecca Gulinello, Deputy Astrian Trade Commissioner Stephan Spazier, former US Ambassador to Austria Helen Von Hamm, Director of the Austrian Cultural Forum Dr. Christine Moser, CEP pf Hallstein Water Alexander Muhr and Elisabeth Muhr, Managing Director at Hallstein Artesian Water.
Over the year, the Viennese Opera Ball has had many notable attendees of the gala have included former Secretary-General of the united Nations Ban Ki-moon, former U.S Ambassador to the United Nations Samantha Power, News Anchor Chuck Scarborough, actor Stephen Baldwin and founder of FEED, Lauren Bush Lauren. Supporters include Charlie Chaplin’s daughter and great granddaughter of playwright Eugene O’Neill, Kiera Chaplin, Laine Siklos, designer Maggie Norris
Over 700 guests are expected to attend to the Opera Ball to watch 16 debutantes make their bow into society, while accompanied by their escorts in white-tie.
