Couri studied at Georgetown and American University under Pulitzer and Academy Award–winning author Larry McMurtry, laying the foundation for a career defined by access, influence, and a distinct editorial voice.

His career most notably took off when he began as an original contributing editor to Andy Warhol’s Interview Magazine, placing him at the center of a cultural shift. His byline went on to appear in Town & Country and People, and today he serves as society columnist for Avenue Magazine, with contributions to Hamptons, Gotham, and Travel Squire—capturing not just who’s who, but what matters across culture, fashion, and power.A regular television commentator, Couri appears across CNN, FOX, PBS, The Today Show, E! News, MSNBC, ABC’s Primetime Live, and VH1, offering perspective at the intersection of society, politics, and entertainment.

As CEO of R. Couri Hay Creative Public Relations, he leads a New York–based agency known for its discretion and reach, representing clients such as Prada, Harry Winston, Bergdorf Goodman, BULGARI, Krug, and Veuve Clicquot. He is also Co-Founder and Editorial Director of Park Magazine.

Couri has directed press for leading cultural and philanthropic institutions, including The Juilliard School, Live at Lincoln Center, American Ballet Theatre, the American Heart Association, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, Southampton Hospital, and the Southampton Animal Shelter.
