Storico, the culinary gem settled within the New York Historical Society on the Upper West Side formerly known at Caffé Storico, has launched a new menu under newly appointed Chef Tim Kensett.
A classically trained British Chef, Tim recently transplanted to New York to lead the Storico team and bring his expertise in Italian cooking to New Yorker’s and travelers alike. Tim’s impressive culinary career began under the mentorship of Lawrence Keogh and continued to move swiftly through the ranks eventually working under the incomparable Chef Ruth Rogers at The River Café. During his time in England, Tim also received a variety of accolades for his cooking prowess and was awarded the coveted Michelin Bib Gourmand for his seasonal lunch menu at the west London gastropub, The Sands End.
“Storico is a family, bonded by the desire to share knowledge, experiences, hard work and respect for ingredients, and how they are served, said Chef Tim Kensett. “It’s more than just food, its food without boundaries.”
Tim Kensett’s honest menu offers customers regional Italian selections that change daily and focus on sincere and balanced flavours. The inventive menu features dishes including Zuppa D’ Aosta with cabbage, Fontina cheese, salted anchovy and sourdough bread, Risotto con cavolo nero with Tuscan black kale, pine nuts and pecorino, Tagliarini with white truffle, Agnello al forno with crushed artichokes and warm anchovy, Razza bianca in padella with Pan seared skate wine, charred escarole and preserved lemon gremolata, Capellacci di zucca, pumpkin stuffed Capellacci with marjoram, dried chili and parmesan, Prosciutto de San Daniele with Treviso, parmesan and aged balsamic and Poached lobster with wilted rainbow chard.
The masterfully crafted menu is complimented by a playful wine and cocktail program paying homage to classic cocktails with selections including the Central Park, Englishman in New York, Margherita Rossa and Naufragio. The specially curated all-Italian wine list features vintages from Piedmont, Sardinia, Umbria, Tuscany and other Italian regions.
A new chef at the helm and a creative curated menu set in place; Storico is set to be the premier dining destination on the Upper West Side.
