Lyss Stern and Camp Divalysscious return to Super Saturday to benefit the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund.
This summer marks the tenth year that author Lyss Stern and her company, Divalysscious Moms, will run Camp Divalysscious at Super Saturday, the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund Alliance shopping benefit, slated for July 29 in Water Mill. The Divalysscious children’s activities have grown exponentially over the years: After starting out in a little tent, the camp now encompasses the entire kids’ section, keeping youngsters occupied while their parents shop the designer goods.
“We entertain the kids—and the parents—all day long with ongoing activities,” says Stern, adding that Camp Divalysscious is suitable for ages two to 12. Tween girls in particular like to get their hair braided, get glitter tattoos, and decorate picture frames. “Moms come in and do some activities with kids as well,” Stern says.
This year Stern will sign copies of her new book, Motherhood Is a B#tch: 10 Steps to Regaining Your Sanity, Sexiness, and Inner Diva, with proceeds going to OCRFA. Stern will also do a reading and signing at the UJA-Federation Trunk Show in Bridgehampton on August 3.
Even harried moms can carve out time to help others, Stern says. “If I can make the time, you can make the time,” explains the mother of three. “If you can’t go to a meeting, perhaps there’s something you can do on social media, or get the kids involved, so you can do it together.”
Super Saturday will be held on July 29 at Nova’s Ark Project, 30-60 Millstone Road, Water Mill, 631-537-0061; ocrfa.org/events/super-saturday.
