The VIP Opening Reception kicked off the week of screening of international shorts and feature films.<\/p>\n<p>Founded by\u00a0<strong>Roberto Rizzo<\/strong>, the NYCIFF celebrates storytelling in all its forms, from feature filmmaking to short-story narrative, and web series to documentaries. The 2019 edition will introduce 29 screenings throughout the week.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Opening Night featured the North American premier of\u00a0<em>Factory Cowboys \u2013 Working with Warhol.\u00a0<\/em>The film is based on Lommel\u2019s 2017 biography \u201cFactory Fame \u2013 Working with Warhol,\u201d and focuses on Warhol\u2019s factory life in Manhattan during the late 1970\u2019s.<\/p>\n<p><em>Veneno \u2013 The First Fall<\/em>, starring accomplished actor\u00a0<strong>Manny P\u00e9rez<\/strong>\u00a0in the role of Dominican wrestler Jack Veneno, was also screened at the opening and director Tabare Blanchard took part in a Q&amp;A with Roberto Rizzo to discuss Veneno\u2019s impact and legacy after the screening.<\/p>\n<p>Other stars who attended Opening Night included Robert Cenedella who\u2019s movie Art Bastard screened at NYCIFF for the first time, Deborah Kuhn who screened Monarch Butterly and Susan J.
