Prospective students and their families log into a Zoom audio call before setting out from the visitors center in a line of cars. Prospective students can fly around a student-built, simulated Drexel campus in the videogame \u201cMinecraft.\u201d Or they can cook their way through a Drexel Dragons spring recipe book, named after the school mascot, or order a build-your-own Lego version of the school\u2019s Main Building,\u00a0which houses classrooms and administrative offices.\n\nThe idea is to provide students with \u201cfun, cultural things that feel like college because people are missing out,\u201d said Craig Kampes, associate vice president for communications and marketing.\n<div class=\"media-object type-InsetDynamic wrap scope-web|mobileapps article__inset article__inset--type-InsetDynamic article__inset--wrap\" data-layout=\"wrap \" data-layout-mobile=\"\">\n<div class=\"dynamic-inset-container article__inset__dynamic\">\n<blockquote id=\"v94433509374800350\" class=\"tiktok-embed\" cite=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/@maddieburbridge\/video\/6890240440054877445\" data-video-id=\"6890240440054877445\"><iframe src=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/embed\/v2\/6890240440054877445?lang=en-US\" name=\"__tt_embed__v94433509374800350\" data-mce-fragment=\"1\"><\/iframe><\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-3810f1e elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"3810f1e\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Other prospective students have taken their campus curiosity to TikTok, the short-form video-sharing platform. Some unsanctioned tours, posted by current students, have racked up hundreds of thousands of views.<\/p><p>One recent TikTok trend incorporates the song \u201cCampus\u201d by indie rock band Vampire Weekend. Students cut sweeping scenes of pastoral fields, university architecture and well-designed dorms to the beat of the song.<\/p><p>\u201cA lot of them were filmed in a very aesthetic way, so you could see all the really nice parts of campus,\u201d said Ms. Rushing, who has been going on various virtual tours from her Massachusetts home.<\/p><p>The high-school junior\u00a0attributes her budding curiosity about attending school overseas to the TikTok videos. \u201cI saw some from Ireland and Scotland, which I probably wouldn\u2019t have thought about\u201d attending, she said.<\/p><p>Christopher Rim, CEO of Command Education, a college-counseling company, said that for the first time he has had clients hire his team as private, round-the-clock tour guides on weeklong college trips.<\/p><p>One Dubai-based family flew private to New York and paid Command Education $150,000 for four days of touring, Mr. Rim said, with stops at Ivy League schools.<\/p><p>\u201cIf they\u2019ve invested hundreds of thousands of dollars on their children\u2019s education from K through 12, they\u2019re not going to cheap out at the last second,\u201d Mr. Rim said<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-f10bd09 elementor-widget elementor-widget-image\" data-id=\"f10bd09\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"image.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<figure class=\"wp-caption\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" src=\"https:\/\/rcourihay.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/im-309542-1024x683.jpg\" class=\"attachment-large size-large wp-image-12449\" alt=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/rcourihay.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/im-309542-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/rcourihay.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/im-309542-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/rcourihay.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/im-309542-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/rcourihay.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/im-309542-365x243.jpg 365w, https:\/\/rcourihay.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/im-309542.jpg 1260w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<figcaption class=\"widget-image-caption wp-caption-text\">Drexel University's build-your-own Lego version of the Main Building.<\/figcaption>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/figure>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-88b9cae elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"88b9cae\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Many more families have taken advantage of 3-D tours many schools have posted on their websites that enable users to move around campus and inside buildings.<\/p><p>Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pa., designed a virtual-reality version of campus.\u00a0 Students can virtually attend a performance at a performing arts center or walk out to center court while the men\u2019s basketball team warms up for a game.<\/p><p>In addition, \u201cwe created a simulated building that doesn\u2019t actually exist on our campus\u201d for students to virtually explore, said Lisa Keegan, vice president for enrollment management. \u201cWe\u2019re afraid people are going to come to campus and be disappointed when they can\u2019t find the building shaped like a B for Bucknell.\u201d<\/p><p>Bucknell plans to send Oculus headsets to some admitted students who don\u2019t have the opportunity to visit in person.
