When Kayla Rockefeller was getting ready to make her debut in 2019 at the fabled Le Bal des Débutantes in Paris, she struggled to find the right jewelry. “I was introduced to a few jewelry companies and none of them worked out, so I thought, where do I go from here?” she asks. Her parents asked her: “Why not do it on your own?” She designed her own earrings and necklace set in diamonds and rubies, to match her ruby red dress by J. Mendel.
She met a manufacturer in New York City and had meetings with jewelry professionals who helped her craft her own designs. This very experience led her to founding her own jewelry line, Kayla Jaclyne, which combines her first name with the first name of her grandmother, Jaclyne Joy Eckles, on the side of her mother, Kimberly Rockefeller. Rockefeller says her grandmother had a joie de vivre, and that her grandmother loved to glam up her outfits with jewelry. She brings that same glamor to each piece in her jewelry line. Each item is 18 karat gold and has ethically sourced precious gemstones. The brand currently has nine different ring designs and five different earring designs, which incorporate lapis lazuli, as well as diamonds, rubies, and emeralds.
Last week, Rockefeller, on the evening of her jewelry launch with Park Magazine New York at White Olive in Manhattan, was wearing the Olivia ring, “which is named after my niece,” she said. “It’s spiraled in diamonds and 18 karat gold. I like the fact that you can wear the ring or wear it around your neck around a chain. You can play with styles and mix and match, add and take away from day to night
