Art Miami Week Kicks Off With Opening of Art Miami

The Hollywood Reporter already published what the highlights of Art Miami Week would be and included our client Art Miami which has officially kicked off! Former Knick Amar’e Stoudemire, Joe Namath, and Metallica’s Jason Newsted all attended the opening day! The 28th edition of this world-renowned art fair is one of the nation’s leading international contemporary and modern art fairs is already a highlight of Art Miami Week. The fair attracts more than 85,000 new and established collectors, curators, museum professionals, members of the press and art world luminaries annually. This year, Art Miami as well as it’s sister fairs, CONTEXT Art Miami and AQUA Art Miami will showcase an array of iconic and exemplary work, dynamic projects and special installations from more than 140 international galleries in over 22 countries representing over 60 cities. Another highlight of the fair is the brand new 250,000 square foot concrete foundation on Biscayne Bay that will be the permanent home for Art Miami and CONTEXT Art Miami in future years.

While there will be thousands of works featured across the 3 fairs, one piece that you should check out is Love is the Answer, a piece memorializing the late Amy Winehouse created by pop artist Deborah Azzopardi. Presented by The Cynthia Corbett Gallery, this limited edition silk-screen print was created at the request of Mitch and Janis Winehouse as a tribute to their daughter. Azzopardi has merged the icon of Amy Winehouse into one of her most iconic images, Sshh. She comments on the image saying, “Sometimes we need to rest, pause, and just breathe – eyes closed – take time out.  A moment of silence but continuously sharing the love thought…”

A meet and greet with Deborah Azzopardi, to view this new work will take place on Friday, December 8th from 3pm-4pm at Art Miami. Janis Winehouse will be joining the meet and greet to support the Miami Launch of this work. Azzopardi as well as Amy’s parents will sign each piece and a portion of their sale will benefit the Amy Winehouse Foundation, which works to prevent the effects of drug and alcohol misuse on young people. Azzopardi is just one of many international artists featured at this event.

Over the years, Art Miami has continuously grown to include more LA- based galleries and international exhibitors. Read more about Art Miami Week highlights to be sure not to miss in the Hollywood Reporter. ->Here
